To Do...

I've got a lot of work ahead of me to finish these beauties.

But these two gorgeous ladies are finished with alligator clips. Watch for them in the Etsy shop soon.

p.s. - what do you think of the potential button embellishments?

p.p.s. - I apologize for the lackluster lighting and photos. They don't really "pop" out at you, but that's what you get at ten o'clock at night. That and one tired mama.

Did I Sew Today? No...

Sometimes I just want to do a little baking. After a successful loaf of french bread I tried Challah. Delicious!

Blooms Up Close & Personal

Hello...my name is Lily.
I'm delicate, emboldened by color and looking for a little bit of heat to find my true shape.

Pearl, that's what you can call me.
But don't go around thinking I'm precious. I'm much more than that.
I am multi-faceted. The moment you think you have me pegged I go and change colors.

Well you can just call me Georgia.
I have a night full dancing lined up for you and me.
Tango, Rumba, Cha-Cha...you name it, I'm up for it. Wanna join?

Blooming

It was a jam packed conference, but I was able to slip away for a couple hours one night and unwind with a little sewing and a little creation. I really do like making fabric flowers. To have something "bloom" in my hands is awe inducing. It just never gets old.

Updates in Rainbow

I seem to be on such a rainbow kick that I decided to try out a rainbow theme on the blog. Let me know if you like it. I'm limited in time and expertise, but open to suggestions.

While I'm Away

I'll be down and out for a few days - work related conference.

But don't worry - I packed these little pretties in my suitcase.
I'll be doing some handsewing while I'm gone and hopefully returning with some flowers.

I only wish I could show you a better picture of them,
but alas, my toddler continues to hound my every step.
Her shadow haunts me.

Crazy...Orange

I'm getting closer. The orange blocks are done.

Throughout this process I am amazed at the tiniest pieces of scraps that I am now willing to work into a project. When I first started sewing I would throw away scraps the size of what you see in the blocks above.

Now it looks a little more like this.

Which means I'm throwing away less and wasting less.
Which also means I have more fabric (and supplies) than I know what to do with.

Please note the rubbermaid bin that no longer shuts. Just a year ago every sewing related thing I owned fit into that bin and that bin lived in a closet. Now it lives in my bedroom because I need daily access to it AND it is overflowing into the boxes you see on the left. My gracious husband has not said a word about losing some floor space. But I still think someone needs their own sewing room.

Crazy...Green

I mentioned earlier that the green crazy blocks were done.
Well I finally got around to taking a picture of one of them for your viewing pleasure.
Now to start and finish the orange.

Inspiration is Everywhere

***Forgive me if I wander off into food and garden related topics once in awhile, but it's summer and it's only right to be dreaming of damp dirt, seedlings and fresh produce.***

I am always shocked where I find inspiration. If I just take a moment I can find beauty in many things. Maybe it's seeing a smiling face in a door or a tiny stained glass window in a door. Today I saw something in the watermelon I served my daughter.

Isn't that just lovely?
It makes me want to learn how to quilt intricate patterns into my sewing projects.

Of course maybe the following picture isn't really lovely,
but it does indicate how the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Lining things up in a row. She couldn't be more like me if she tried.

See Me on an Etsy Treasury

This lovely little number was recently added to a Treasury on Etsy.

For those of you not familiar with treasuries, you can create a list of products currently being sold on Etsy. People create these lists based on color, the description, some sort of theme. It looks like my quilted bookmark was chosen based on the colors blue and purple. Either way I am greatly honored to know someone likes something I made. It helps keep me going. One little door at a time keeps opening for me and for that I am grateful.

Fabric Stash Replenished

Well I finally went shopping. Patchwork Passions has a Fat Friday sale. Every Friday you can get 1 Fat Quarter free for every 3 you buy. I may or may have not gone over board. Didn't I tell myself this winter that I would try my hardest to not buy any new fabric? That I would instead whittle away at my current large overflowing stash of fabric? Oh well, my hardest wasn't enough to stop me.

I pawed through the basket of scraps and found enough green to finish my green blocks.
UPDATE - they are now done!
There were some other scraps in there that I snagged for future projects.
They were too pretty to leave behind and one sandwich bag full of scraps is only $2!
Who can resist? Seriously, who? Because I would like to meet you and shake your hand.

I also purchased my first supply of orange. I can't decide whether I want to eat these colors or bask in their summer time glow. Either way they'll help me start and finish the orange blocks for my future crazy rainbow quilt.

This is where I went overboard.
I don't need these fabrics.
I couldn't leave the store without them.
Besides, I needed fat quarters in divisions of 4 so I could take advantage of the sale.

The urge to make these into a baby blanket makes my womb ache.
Do you see that shadow falling over them in the picture?
That is my toddler, constantly underfoot and searching for destruction. That makes my head ache.
